Thankful for you…

I know I say this all the time… but this is seriously my favorite time of year.

Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that I feel gets overlooked or overshadowed. Yes, we put our Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving…. Yes, I’ve already started (and am pretty much finished) buying gifts. Yes, I’ve been planning our Christmas cookie/baking menu….

However, I haven’t forgot about Thanksgiving…..

Our lives are abundant in blessings…. We find it very important to start and end the day with thanking God for everything we have. This Thanksgiving is no different than other days…. We are so very thankful.

I am as always, very much thankful for my family, friends, etc. I am also SO thankful for YOU.

2016 has been another wild year…… we finished building our home, built and started up a bakery, had health scares and recoveries, changed schools, etc. To say this year has taken us out of our comfort zone is an understatement…

I’ve got a business mind… I’m an accountant by degree… I’m a baker by heart. However, starting a small business was not something I ever thought I would do. It’s exciting, scary, nerve-racking, overwhelming and awesome all at once. I’ve learned so much and continue to do so each day.

What has surprised me the most is the great need for allergy-friendly baking in general. I never dreamed that I would meet so many people like me… or people who are struggling with diets….. people who just want to feel better…. people who are curious. I’m thankful for your stories…. I hope you always share them with me. Not only does it help me understand you better, but it helps me learn more about health or dietary struggles.

Everyone is different and has different ‘tastes’. I’m thankful for your feedback. Your honest opinion helps me improve and keeps me on my toes. Please continue to share with me your favorite foods or how I can make mine better….. After all, I’m here to serve you.

Living with dietary issues is not always easy. Whether you have a life-altering allergy/sensitivity or you just find you feel different after eating a certain way, changing a lifelong habit is hard. I’m thankful for your persistence and patience. Knowing that you ‘get it’ helps me feel much less along. And I really love sharing in your excitement when you finally get a food you haven’t had in a while!

Finally, I’m thankful for you as ¬†customer. There’s a little saying that goes something like ‘when you buy from a small business owner, you aren’t paying for expensive things, you are helping pay for dance class, t-ball cleats, etc.’ Seriously, it’s so true. Now that I’m trying to operate as a small business owner, I have found a new respect for all those ‘little guys’ trying to make it in a small town area. You could easily buy GF baked goods from a big store, online, etc. I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am that you choose me. My purpose of starting this bakery was not a ‘get rich’ kind of thing… I’m not sure that’s even possible. What I want is to be able to give you my best foods and reasonable prices so you can enjoy delicious foods again. In reality, it’s a love/hate relationship I have with this customer base….. Love in the sense that I get to meet new people ‘like me’ and that I can provide them with something useful but I hate it in the fact that you need me. I don’t wish Celiac, food allergies, sensitivities, etc on anyone but I’m so very happy to ¬†help if I can.

So to finish this up…. Again, I’m so very thankful for you. Thank you for welcoming LPHJ Kitchen into your lives. Thank you for helping spread the word about food related issues. Thank you for helping our communities by shopping local and from a small business. Not a day goes by that I’m not so incredibly appreciative of your business. Thank YOU. I’m very much looking forward to getting to see how the new year starts and where this journey takes us!
