Salted Caramel Fudge Brownies

Happy Valentine’s Day!! I have a problem… a baking problem. And I also have a brownie problem – so these were born! They may be the best brownies I have ever made. My husband was almost speechless and I don’t even know if he chewed them – just inhaled them. They are so soft and moist. Plus the fudgy caramel sauce on top is to die for. Don’t take my word for it, just try them yourself! Don’t worry if you don’t eat gluten-free.  The ingredients used in this can be easily swapped with regular items. This makes a great treat for Valentine’s Day! Enjoy!

salted caramel brownies

1 pkg brownie mix (GF)
1 large egg
1/3 cup chocolate chips
¾ cup applesauce
¾ cup water
½ cup caramel sauce or melted caramels (like Kraft)
¼ cup almond milk
½ cup chocolate chips
¼ cup almond milk
1 tsp sea salt

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, egg, applesauce, 1/3 cup chocolate chips and water. Mix over low speed for about 30 seconds.
  • Pour into a greased 9×13 baking pan. Bake at 350°F for about 20-25 minutes or until cooked through. Let cool about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips and ¼ cup almond milk in a saucepan.
  • In a separate saucepan, melt caramels and ¼ cup almond milk (or use homemade caramel sauce).
  • Once brownies have cooled, pour over chocolate sauce and let cool another 10 minutes. Then pour over caramel sauce.
  • If the brownies are warm enough the chocolate and caramel should swirl together. Sprinkle over sea salt and serve.
