Easy Garlic Hummus

We are BIG time snackers at our house. Honestly, sometimes we replace we our typical lunch with a spread of snacks – like dips, veggies, crackers, fruits. Hummus is one of our favorite dips and it is so easy to make. Seriously, it takes me longer to wash the food processor after making it than actually throwing it together. One of the favorite things we love about hummus is how easy it is to customize. You can add vegetables, spices, etc. I love using roasted garlic for a little extra flavor but regular garlic cloves work just fine. This is a pretty basic recipe and you can adjust the amount of garlic and lemon as desired.

You can usually find organic garbanzo beans and tahini at your local grocery stores but if you are looking for an affordable online option, check them out at Thrive Market.

I highly recommend using a good food processor or blender to make this hummus. A high-powered food processor like this Cuisinart (on Amazon) works great and makes sure to get the hummus smooth! A Vitamix blender is also a great choice – in fact, I use a Vitamix for just about any type of blending!

Instructions
  1. In a food processor or high-powered blender, place beans, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, sea salt, olive oil and cumin.
  2. Blend on high for about 2-4 minutes to get desired consistency, scraping sides if necessary.
  3. Put hummus in a serving bowl and top with paprika and parsley. Serve with mixed vegetables or crackers.
  4. Refrigerate hummus in a sealed container for up to a week.
