1 GF (or Paleo) pie crust – I cheated and used store bought (don’t tell my mom!)
5 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced (I used 3 Red Delicious, 3 Golden and 2 Granny Smith)
Zest of 1 orange
1 tsp orange juice
1 Tbsp arrowroot starch
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 Tbsp almond flour
1 tsp coconut flour
2 tsp coconut sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp orange juice (from orange above)

  • Preheat oven to 350F. In a large mixing bowl, combine apples, orange zest and juice, starch, cinnamon, allspice and cloves. Stir until apples are coated. Pour apple mixture into pie crust.
  • In a small bowl, combine topping ingredients. Blend with a fork until mixture is crumbly – adding more flour to get mixture to crumble if necessary. Sprinkle crumb mixture over top of apples.
  • Bake for about an hour – covering with foil the last 15 minutes to prevent browning. Top with a dollop of ice cream and serve warm!

Patience... is a virtue!
