Happy Day friends! Or should I say “Happy SNOW Day!”. That’s right – our first snow day of the year! I think I might be more excited than my kids 🙂 I miss snow days! Plus, this is my first one not having to make the trek to work or college in nasty weather! I get to bundle up and make snow angels with my babies! For those of you that do have to get out – be safe!
This week is special – it’s the start of Lent! I really love Lent and all the reflection, sacrificing, almsgiving, etc it entails. This year, we have a lot of “Lent” plans. First off, we all have our sacrifices. My husband and I will be giving up all sugars and doing a Whole40 program. I started the Whole30 on January 1 but January proved me to be a difficult month in terms of a few minor health setbacks so I had to postpone my Whole30. I’m on the mend and ready to try again! I’m excited for my husband to join me – even if we both may be cranky! If you are curious about Whole30 – check it out here!
Last year, we also gave up all electronics on Sundays – no TV, computer, phones, tablets, etc. We literally just “shut off” and enjoyed our time as a family. It was great! We are doing that again. My son wants to “give up mac & cheese”. This is huge – it’s his favorite! We also have a few little other things planned to make some sacrifices. If you celebrate, what’s your plan??
With the start of Lent comes fasting and abstinence. On Fridays, I’ll be posting a meat-free recipe. Also, be on the lookout for a round up of Lent-friendly recipes. If you’ll notice the meal plan, on Wednesday it’s a little light. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting so we will only have 1 full meal (dinner). If you don’t participate in Lent, just sub in another days worth of meals!
Here’s the meal plan for the week with recipe links below:
