Happy New Year & Immune Support

Happy New Year to all my readers!

Unfortunately, my first post of the year is going to be this immunity tea that I’ve been drinking the last three days. Yes, my 2015 is starting out being puny, sick and tired. I’m hoping that this isn’t a foreshadow of the rest of the year! Even worse, the rest of the family isn’t feeling wonderful either. The icing on the cake – we have had a lot of trouble with our CH&A unit and today, the thermostat went out. It’s a chilly 58 degrees in our house! Probably doesn’t help the colds much….

Our NYE was going to be spent at home with the children with a little party and movies. However, I over-worked myself trying to prepare the food and then was worthless when it was time for dinner. Husband and I did end up watching a little TV and we did make it to midnight but barely (the kids, not even close!).

On a brighter note – I have so much planned for this blog in 2015, including a quick little healthy living guide that I’ll be getting out soon! I guess you can call it my first little ebook! I’m also hoping to have even more giveaways this year plus a couple surprises along the way 🙂

Back to the first recipe of 2015!

Immune Support Tea

This tea is loaded with helpful nutrients to help get that immune system back on track. Turmeric is known for it’s various healing properties. It is said to be an anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, help with nausea, cancer prevention, etc. It also has a nice flavor! Similar to turmeric, ginger also possesses many properties to help with immune support and digestion. Honestly, it is my favorite food/spice/tea/everything. It helps with morning sickness while I was pregnant and I make sure I have some type of ginger on hand in case I have a flare up or a bad spell. I prefer ginger tea – which is the base of this recipe. My favorite brand is Traditional Medicinals – they have so many varieties of teas. Add the lemon and raw honey and you’ve got yourself a quality, nutritious beverage to hopefully get you on the right track to healing! Makes 1 serving

immune tea

6-8 oz hot water
1 ginger tea bag (I love Ginger+Chamomile)
1/2 lemon, sliced
1 tsp raw honey
1/2 tsp ground turmeric

In a large mug, steep tea in water for about 10 minutes. Add in lemon, honey and turmeric and stir.

I make this herbal tea adding few leaves of thulsi and few black pepper seeds or ginger. Turmeric is a new idea, and will defenitely try as i have fresh homegrown turmeric with me.
