Caramel Sauce

Oh goodness…. this caramel is like an all natural heaven. It takes a little work but it is well worth it. Plus it makes a decent amount to save for another time. Makes about 1 cup sauce. Store this in the fridge to create a thicker sauce.

1/2 cup palm shortening or butter
1/2 cup coconut milk, canned
1/4 cup honey
2 Tbsp coconut sugar (or more honey if desired)
sea salt, if desired

In a small saucepan, heat honey until just boiling. Add in shortening, milk and sugar. Stir mixture frequently for about 10-15 minutes until it starts to thicken. Let cool completely before storing.
