2014 is ending soon – I can’t believe it! I have a lot of mixed feelings about this year. It was by far the hardest year I’ve had I think but in a way the most rewarding. Here’s a brief recap:
January – I met my nutritionist and began my insanely limited and blended diet. Looking back, it was obviously worth it as much as I hated it. However, I also had a diagnosis and a plan for moving forward. My super sweet godson was also born in January this year!
February – We had a wonderful Valentine’s day at home with the children! Not too much excitement this month!
March- Another fairly quiet month. I did get my first email from an unknown blog follower stating that my recipes and meal plans helped make her life with food sensitivities easier. This is exactly why I do my blog – to help others and little emails like this make me smile!
April – We were able to take a little mini family vacation in KC while I had dr. appts. We also had a good appt this month – progress! Angel baby decided she was ready for potty training – fellow parents, you’ll understand how important this is!
May- I got a new niece this month and one of my very best friends had a baby girl! My sister and family from Arizona visited for a week and we had so much fun! I also did my first farmer’s market demo in Webb City and had TONS of fun!
June- We bought our forever home (At least I hope so!) and we love it so much! I also had a birthday (without cake :)). We also spent a lot of time at the ball park with my son’s tball – he was MUCH better this year!
July- My first born turned 6 and got a go-kart (yikes!). I made the very difficult decision to leave my job so I could take better care of myself and heal. On the blog front – I got a very special phone call from one of my favorite magazines!
August- My sweet baby boy started Kindergarten and loved it! My husband and I realized we had been together for 10 years since we started dating in high school! One of my favorite online stores also started featuring some of my recipes – Tropical Traditions. This month I had another check up that wasn’t great… a little bit of a back track.
September – Husband had a birthday and angel baby turned 2 (and also turned terrible!).
October – My husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. I got the very exciting confirmation that my favorite magazine, Taste of Home, would be featuring 3 of my recipes for their Easter issue! Paleo Living Magazine also featured one of my recipes in their digital magazine! My last day at work was Oct 31.
November – Husband and I were able to attend the Gluten & Allergen Free Expo in Dallas, Texas as blog sponsors! We had a great time and met SO many awesome people! Unfortunately, my first few weeks of “retirement” were terrible. The entire month of November was spent sick, in doctor’s appts, missing school. All we seemed to do was pass around sickness!
December – Another not-so-great appointment in the books. My body still isn’t working how it should. I’m officially up to 30 vitamins/supplements/meds per day and keeping track of that is enough to keep me busy. However, I have seen solid improvement since last year. I’ve gained about 10 pounds and have started to eat more solid foods. As long as I can stay healthy – I will be able to reintroduce foods in the new year (eggs first!!!). We had had a wonderful first Christmas in our new home and angel baby even got to see her first movie in theater (Penguins of Madagascar!).
Overall – my health and progression was challenging and proved that I still have a long way to go. However, I’m nervous, hopeful and optimistic for 2015. The last couple months have made me realize that leaving my job was a good decision. I’m not sure how we managed everything while I worked so much – plus every Monday is no longer my “bad” day! I’m very much looking forward to quality time with princess, picking up my son and no-school days to play! Our faith has grown and our love for each other. I’m so thankful for my husband and family and all the support they provide. As for my blog, it is doing great and I love it so much! It’s fun, challenging and relaxing all at the same time. I’m excited to see what we can do with it in 2015!
I hope you’ve all had a great year and that your blessings are abundant in 2015!
To finish off the year, I’d like to share with you the most popular recipes from LPHJ Kitchen. I’m actually surprised to see some of these recipes as they weren’t my favorites but I’m happy you liked them!!
Have a great and safe New Years!!
